Dybsø

Dybsø is a small, uninhabited barrier island off the southern coast of Zealand in Denmark, sitting at the outer edge of Dybsø Fjord where it meets the Karrebæksminde Bugt. Together with the neighboring island Enø, it forms a double coastline that shelters the shallow fjord behind it, creating one of the most important feeding and resting areas for waterbirds in the region. The island is low-lying, roughly three kilometers long from north to south and about one kilometer wide at its broadest point, rising only a few meters above the sea except at its ends, where it falls toward the shore in six-meter clay cliffs. Its character is defined by coastal meadows, reed beds, freshwater ponds, and gently rising moraine ground; the traditional grazing land that gives Dybsø its distinctive open appearance has been preserved as protected grassland rather than converted to arable farming. Dybsø is owned by the Danish state and forms part of the Dybsø Fjord Wildlife Reserve. It lies within the Natura 2000 site that covers the sea and coast between Karrebæk Fjord and Knudshoved Odde, is designated as both a bird protection area and an EU habitat area, and is also recognized as a Ramsar wetland of international importance.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
