Miejski Bór Nature Reserve

Miejski Bór Nature Reserve is a small floristic nature reserve located in the Greater Poland Voivodeship of west-central Poland, just outside the town of Krotoszyn. It lies within the Wysoczyzna Kaliska mesoregion and is part of the broader Dąbrowy Krotoszyńskie protected landscape, a region long recognized for its oak-dominated forests and sandy lowland habitats. The reserve was established in 1987 to safeguard a stand of fresh coniferous forest, known locally as bór świeży, mixed with birches, pedunculate and red oaks, sycamore maples, aspens, and larches. Beyond its tree cover, the site is valued for protected understory plants such as mezereon and honeysuckle, giving it botanical significance that goes well beyond its modest footprint. Although compact in size, the reserve also preserves traces of prehistoric human use, with Bronze Age burial mounds recorded within its boundaries. Together with nearby monuments, including the Dąb Rozdrażewskich oak and an erratic boulder near Smoszew, Miejski Bór forms part of a layered cultural and natural landscape in the Krotoszyn area.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
