Nwanedi Provincial Park

Nwanedi Provincial Park is a protected area in the far northern part of South Africa's Limpopo province, set in the wooded foothills of the Soutpansberg Range just west of Kruger National Park. The reserve covers roughly 11,170 hectares of lowveld terrain, where rocky ridges, river valleys, and dense woodland come together at the meeting point of two rivers. Two dams, the Nwanedi Dam and the Luphephe Dam, sit near the confluence of the Nwanedi and Luphephe Rivers and define much of the park's scenery and wildlife habitat. The park combines a distinctive mountain backdrop with a watered lowveld interior, giving it a richer mix of habitats than many of the surrounding plains. It is known for its populations of white rhino in the lowveld zone and for its bird diversity along the cliffs and forests. The cultural landscape of the nearby Soutpansberg, traditionally associated with the Venda people, also adds a deeper regional identity to the reserve.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
