Réserve naturelle régionale des Jasseries de Colleigne

The Réserve naturelle régionale des Jasseries de Colleigne is a regional nature reserve situated in the Monts du Forez, within the Loire department of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region in central-eastern France. Covering roughly 285 hectares of high-altitude terrain between about 1,300 and 1,600 meters, the reserve protects a section of the Hautes Chaumes du Forez, the open moorland plateaus that characterize the upper slopes of this mountain range. The reserve is notable for preserving a mosaic of open habitats, including moorlands, grasslands, peat bogs, tall-herb formations, and natural beech-fir forest. These landscapes are maintained in large part by extensive pastoral farming, a traditional activity that has shaped the cultural identity of the Forez highlands and continues to influence the ecology of the site. Established in 1985 as a voluntary nature reserve and formally reclassified as a regional nature reserve in 2009, the Jasseries de Colleigne plays an important role in safeguarding open-land habitats that have become increasingly rare across France, while also protecting several protected plant and animal species characteristic of mid-mountain environments.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
