Bagno Bocianowskie Nature Reserve

Bagno Bocianowskie is a protected forest nature reserve in central-eastern Poland, located within the Mazowiecki Park Krajobrazowy in the Masovian Voivodeship, a short distance northeast of Celestynów in Otwock County. The reserve was established in 1982 to preserve the mosaic of forest communities that have developed across the dune ridges and peat-filled depressions typical of the Garwolińska Plain. At roughly 69 hectares, the reserve protects a mix of peat-forming bog woodland and dry acidic oak forests, with pine dominating the canopy across most of the area. Small open bog pools, the remnants of historical peat cutting, harbor a distinctive set of wetland plants, while the broader reserve supports populations of large mammals and waterbirds associated with the Mazovian lowland landscape. Although small in scale, the reserve is valued for capturing in a compact area the characteristic interaction of glacial sand dunes and raised bog systems that shape much of the surrounding park landscape.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
