Szczecyn Natura 2000 Site

Szczecyn is a Polish Natura 2000 site of Community importance, classified as a special area of conservation (specjalny obszar ochrony siedlisk) under the EU Habitats Directive. It lies in eastern and southeastern Poland, spanning the border region between the Lubelskie and Podkarpackie voivodeships, within the communes of Gościeradów (powiat kraśnicki) and Zaklików (powiat stalowowolski). The site is composed of four separate forest enclaves totaling roughly 933 hectares, set within the Wzniesienia Urzędowskie and Równina Biłgorajska physical-geographical mesoregions. Its value lies less in dramatic scenery than in the preservation of rare deciduous woodland habitats, particularly oak-hornbeam forests and thermophilic oak woodland, including the presence of priority species such as the hermit beetle. Nearly 39 percent of the area is covered by two established nature reserves, Doły Szczeckie and Marynopole, which reinforce the conservation function of the habitat complex and protect older stands that harbor many of the rare plants and invertebrates recorded here.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
