Tapantí National Park

Tapantí National Park is a protected area in the Central Conservation Area of Costa Rica, situated on the northern slopes of the Talamanca Range near the city of Cartago. The park encompasses approximately 583 square kilometers of pristine mountain terrain and forms a critical ecological corridor connecting to Chirripó National Park to the south. Established on February 1, 1982, the park protects some of the most biologically diverse montane cloud forest habitats in Central America, with theCerro de la Muerte Massif added to the protected area in January 2000.
