Dąbrowa Smoszew Nature Reserve

Dąbrowa Smoszew is a small forest nature reserve located in the Greater Poland (Wielkopolskie) voivodeship, within the Krotoszyn area of the historical Krotoszyn oaklands (Dąbrowy Krotoszyńskie). Established in 1963, it protects a fragment of natural mixed forest dominated by old oaks, set on the rolling Wysoczyzna Kaliska upland. The reserve preserves mature tree stands between roughly 120 and 150 years old, with oak forming the principal species alongside pine, larch, hornbeam, black alder, and elm. A protective buffer zone surrounds the core area, allowing the forest to function as a stable refuge for native flora, including several regionally rare woodland plants. Although compact in size, Dąbrowa Smoszew forms part of a broader network of legally protected forest and landscape areas in the region. It lies within the Dąbrowy Krotoszyńskie Protected Landscape Area and overlaps with two Natura 2000 sites, integrating it into pan-European habitat conservation efforts for lowland oak forests and related woodland ecosystems.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
