Dammer Moor

Dammer Moor is a protected nature reserve and European Natura 2000 site located in the Lieberose area of Dahme-Spreewald district, in the state of Brandenburg in eastern Germany. The roughly 181-hectare site combines a national-level nature reserve (Naturschutzgebiet) with a European Fauna-Flora-Habitat area, reflecting both its national conservation status and its recognition within the EU Natura 2000 network. The landscape centers on a calcareous, calcium-marl-rich valley mire on a watershed (Wasserscheide) that historically linked the site northward and southward to the Schwielochsee. Surrounding habitats include wet meadows, tall herb communities, ponds and drainage ditches, oak-dominated woodland on both acidic and base-rich soils, and small areas of moor forest and riparian alder-ash forest. The mosaic of moist lowlands and surrounding forest gives Dammer Moor its distinctive ecological character. The reserve is significant for its rare plant communities, including threatened orchid species and base-rich brown-moss and wire-sedge vegetation, as well as for its herpetological richness. It forms part of a larger cluster of Natura 2000 sites extending across roughly 28 kilometers east-west and 15 kilometers north-south in the Lieberose region, reinforcing its role as a key node in Brandenburg's protected wetland network.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
