Prince Albert National Park

Prince Albert National Park is a vast protected wilderness area spanning 3,874 square kilometres in central Saskatchewan, Canada. Located approximately 200 kilometres north of Saskatoon, this park encompasses the southern boreal forest region, representing one of the province's most significant ecological reserves. The landscape features rolling forested terrain within the Waskesiu Hills, with elevations ranging from 488 metres on the western side to 724 metres on the eastern edge. The park contains several large lakes, including Waskesiu Lake, Kingsmere Lake, and Crean Lake, which serve as the drainage divide between the North Saskatchewan and Churchill River systems. Established in 1927, it was Saskatchewan's only national park until Grasslands National Park was created in 1981. The park is notable for maintaining the only free-ranging plains bison herd in Canada within its original range, complete with a full complement of native predators including timber wolves.
