Garigal National Park

Garigal National Park is a protected natural area located in the North Shore and Forest District regions of Sydney, New South Wales, approximately 20 kilometres north of the Sydney central business district. The 2,202-hectare national park encompasses the valley of Middle Harbour Creek and its tributaries, the slopes along the northern side of Middle Harbour extending to Bantry Bay, and part of the Narrabeen Lakes catchment. The park is characterized by dry sclerophyll forest, a distinctly Australian vegetation type adapted to the region's Mediterranean climate. Geographically, the park is divided into three distinct sections separated by natural geography, urban development, and road infrastructure, with residential areas bordering the ridge tops surrounding much of its perimeter. The park holds IUCN Category II protection status and is managed by the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service.
