Gulaga National Park

Gulaga National Park is a protected area on the south coast of New South Wales, Australia, situated approximately 15 kilometres south of Narooma. The park is centred around Mount Gulaga, a prominent ancient volcanic mountain that rises to around 1,000 metres above sea level, towering over a landscape of lakes, rainforest, and coastal terrain. Established in 2001 through the merger of the former Wallaga Lake National Park, Goura Nature Reserve, and Mount Dromedary Flora Reserve, the park encompasses an area of 46.73 square kilometres and protects a remarkable diversity of ecosystems including the southernmost subtropical rainforest in New South Wales. The park holds deep cultural significance for the Yuin people, the traditional owners of the land, who regained freehold title to the area in 2006. Gulaga forms part of the Ulladulla to Merimbula Important Bird Area, recognized internationally for its importance to endangered swift parrots and other bird species.
