Interview Island

Interview Island is a relatively isolated island in the Andaman archipelago of India, lying in the Bay of Bengal about 125 kilometers north of Port Blair. It belongs to the North and Middle Andaman administrative district within the union territory of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, and forms part of the Interview Group of islands located to the west of the Austen Strait. The island stretches roughly 23 kilometers in length and covers about 101 square kilometers, with terrain that rises gradually from a low northern end to a wooded plateau reaching around 113 meters. Its interior is largely forested, and the surrounding waters include rocky hazards and foul ground extending northward from the coast. The island is most notable for a small population of feral elephants, descendants of animals originally brought for forestry work that remain on the island in a semi-wild state. With only a handful of inhabitants, a former wildlife monitoring station, and very limited transport access, Interview Island retains a largely undisturbed and remote character within the broader Andaman island chain.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
