Kaiser Mountains

The Kaiser Mountains, known in German as the Kaisergebirge, are a compact and visually dramatic mountain range in the Northern Limestone Alps of Tyrol, Austria. Pressed between the towns of Kufstein to the west and St. Johann in Tirol to the east, the range rises abruptly from the Inn valley and the surrounding lowlands, forming one of the most recognizable silhouettes in the Eastern Alps. The massif is split into two parallel east-west ridges: the Wilder Kaiser to the south, a chain of steep, bare limestone walls, and the Zahmer Kaiser to the north, whose gentler flanks are cloaked with mountain pine and forest.
