Kanger Ghati National Park

Kanger Ghati National Park is a protected area in the Bastar region of Chhattisgarh state in central India. Established in July 1982, the park covers approximately 200 square kilometres of mixed moist deciduous forest landscape centred on the Kanger River valley. The park is renowned for its remarkable geological diversity, featuring extensive limestone cave systems with active stalactite and stalagmite formations, as well as cascading waterfalls including the spectacular Tirathgarh Falls. It is one of India's denser national parks in terms of biodiversity, protecting significant populations of Bengal tigers, leopards, and other wildlife within its undulating terrain that ranges from 338 to 781 metres above sea level. The park holds the distinction of being home to the Bastar hill myna, the state bird of Chhattisgarh, and was placed on UNESCO's tentative list of World Heritage Sites in 2025.
