Podilski Tovtry National Nature Park

Podilski Tovtry National Nature Park is Ukraine's largest nature conservation area, established in 1996 to protect the unique geological and ecological landscapes of the Podillia region in western Ukraine. The park encompasses over 2,600 square kilometers across Khmelnytskyi and Kamianets-Podilskyi Raions, centering on the distinctive Tovtry ridge, a chain of limestone hills that form a prominent geological feature extending roughly 200 kilometers across the region. These hills, known locally as Medobory, represent the exposed remains of ancient barrier reefs formed during the Tortonian and Sarmatian epochs of the Neogene period. The park's territory includes significant stretches of the Dniester River valley, with its characteristic canyon-like valleys, rocky outcrops, and diverse habitats ranging from forest-covered slopes to wetland areas. The park protects exceptional biodiversity, with approximately 1,700 plant species and 217 animal species documented within its boundaries, including dozens of species listed in Ukraine's Red Book of protected species.

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
