About ten percent of the area consists of non-forested marshes, ponds, hayfields, and pastures, creating a mosaic of forest and wetland habitats. The Trans-Siberian Railroad passes by the two sections of the park, connecting it to major urban centers in the region. This national park serves as an important conservation area for the boreal forest ecosystems of the West Siberian Plain.
