Réserve naturelle régionale des étangs de Bonnelles

The Réserve naturelle régionale des étangs de Bonnelles is a small French regional nature reserve located in the Yvelines department, within the Île-de-France region. It covers a compact area of approximately 22 hectares on the commune of Bonnelles, just outside the wider Chevreuse area. The reserve is defined by its two ponds, the Étang de Chartemps and the Étang des Trois Ducs, which together form the core of its protected landscape. Originally established in 1990 as a voluntary nature reserve (Réserve Naturelle Volontaire), the site was reclassified in 2016 as a fully recognized Régionale Nature Reserve, giving it a stronger and more permanent protection status. Despite its modest size, the reserve is recognized for its rich freshwater biodiversity, particularly its dragonfly populations and birdlife. The site stands out within Île-de-France for its concentration of wetland habitats and aquatic species in a region where such environments are relatively scarce and increasingly fragmented. It plays an important role in preserving pond ecosystems, supporting rare invertebrates, and providing refuge for a wide variety of bird species in a heavily urbanized part of France.

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
