Sea Acres National Park

Sea Acres National Park is a small but ecologically significant protected area located on the Mid North Coast of New South Wales, Australia, near the coastal town of Port Macquarie. The 76-hectare park protects one of the largest and most intact remaining segments of coastal littoral rainforest in the state, a ecosystem type that has been largely cleared from much of its former range for agriculture, mining, and urban development. The park is centered around a remnant rainforest area adjacent to Shelley Beach, which features a popular 1.3-kilometre boardwalk allowing visitors to experience the lush coastal forest environment. Established initially as a nature reserve in 1987 and formally gazetted as a national park in 2010, Sea Acres represents an important botanical refuge, with botanists noting that similar beachside rainforests near Port Macquarie may represent surviving remnants from warmer climatic periods. The park supports remarkable biodiversity despite its modest size, including over a hundred bird species, 21 mammal species, and numerous reptile and invertebrate species.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
