Connemara National Park

Connemara National Park is one of eight national parks in the Republic of Ireland, situated in the northwestern region of Connemara in County Galway on the west coast. The park encompasses approximately 2,000 hectares of diverse terrain including mountains, blanket bogs, heathlands, grasslands, and woodlands. Established in 1980 and managed by the National Parks and Wildlife Service, the park features the Twelve Bens mountain range with Benbaun as its highest peak rising to 729 metres. The landscape is characterized by a dramatic combination of wild bogland, rugged peaks, and deep valleys that define the western Irish Atlantic coast. The park holds significant ecological value as one of the remaining intact blanket bog systems in Europe and provides habitat for important bird species and reintroduced red deer populations.
