About Mierucinek Nature Reserve

Mierucinek Nature Reserve

Mierucinek Nature Reserve is a small forest nature reserve located in north-central Poland, within the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Voivodeship. It lies in the Mogilno County area, in the Gmina Dąbrowa, and is administered almost entirely on lands belonging to the Gołąbki Forest District. The reserve covers about 29.53 hectares and is set within the broader landscape of the Gniezno Lake District, a region of post-glacial plains, gentle moraines, and mixed woodland typical of central European lowlands. The defining feature of the reserve is a well-developed oak forest community growing on a habitat type associated with fertile deciduous woodland. It is classified as a phytocoenotic reserve, focused on the protection of a representative forest biocenosis rather than a single species or geological feature. Because of its ecological integrity, the reserve has been placed under strict protection, the highest level of nature conservation available in the Polish system. Established in 1995, Mierucinek was created to preserve, for scientific, educational, and landscape reasons, a fragment of natural oak forest whose structure and species composition reflect the historical character of lowland deciduous woodlands in this part of Poland. Although compact in size, it is regarded as an important local reference site for understanding and illustrating the composition of well-preserved oak-dominated forest communities in the Kujawsko-Pomorskie region.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
