Marynopole Nature Reserve

Marynopole Nature Reserve is a forest nature reserve located in the Lubelskie Voivodeship of eastern Poland, within Gmina Gościeradów and Kraśnik County. It lies on the Wzniesienia Urzędowskie, a low hilly mesoregion that forms part of the broader upland landscape between the Vistula and San river systems. The reserve was established in 1976 under a decision of the Minister of Forestry and the Wood Industry, and it represents one of the more ecologically focused forest reserves in this part of the Polish uplands. The principal conservation purpose of Marynopole is the protection of an old-growth silver fir (Abies alba) stand that occurs here in a grouped, locally distinctive pattern at the northeastern margin of the species' natural range. The reserve also includes sections of mature oak forest, and together these mature tree stands create the shaded, stable microclimate that supports a notable suite of protected plant species. Its position within the Natura 2000 site Szczecyn (PLH060083) further links it to the wider European ecological network of protected habitats. Although Marynopole is a small reserve by national standards, it carries meaningful ecological weight because it conserves silver fir at the edge of its range, a situation that makes populations like this particularly important for monitoring climate-driven shifts in forest composition. The reserve is administered through the Marynopole forest district within Nadleśnictwo Gościeradów, and it combines protection, research interest, and quiet forest walking in a setting characteristic of the Polish uplands.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
