Tampoketsa Analamaitso Reserve

Tampoketsa Analamaitso Reserve is a wildlife reserve in the Sofia Region of northern Madagascar, managed as a habitat and species management area under the country's national parks authority. It protects a mosaic of humid dense forest at moderate altitude and dense dry forest in the western portion of the reserve, spanning three administrative districts: Port Bergé, Mandritsara, and Mampikony. The reserve is most notable for its role in conserving lemur populations in Madagascar's north-central interior, where forested habitat has become increasingly important for the long-term survival of native primates. It is one of many protected areas that together form the backbone of Madagascar's biodiversity conservation network. Despite its ecological importance, the reserve remains relatively inaccessible. The nearest navigable settlement, the village of Sahalentina, lies more than forty kilometers away, and access becomes very difficult during Madagascar's rainy season from November through March, making the area a true wilderness reserve rather than a heavily visited destination.

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
