Chaloem Rattanakosin National Park

Chaloem Rattanakosin National Park is a protected wilderness area in western Thailand, situated approximately 97 kilometres north of Kanchanaburi town within Nong Prue District. Established in February 1980 as Thailand's 17th national park, the park encompasses roughly 59 square kilometres of mountainous terrain, making it the smallest park in Kanchanaburi Province. The park forms part of the broader Western Forest Complex, a network of protected areas spanning Thailand's western mountain ranges. Characterised by rugged limestone peaks, extensive cave systems, and cascading waterfalls, Chaloem Rattanakosin preserves a mosaic of forest ecosystems including dry evergreen forest, dipterocarp woodland, deciduous forest, and bamboo thickets. The park holds archaeological significance, with artefacts and human remains discovered within its cave formations that are believed to date from the final period of the Ayutthaya Kingdom, possibly associated with invading Burmese forces.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
