Currimundi Lake (Kathleen McArthur) Conservation Park

Currimundi Lake (Kathleen McArthur) Conservation Park is a small protected area on Queensland's Sunshine Coast, situated just north of the suburb of Currimundi and a few kilometers north of Caloundra, near the community of Wurtulla. The park covers roughly 50 hectares of low-lying coastal landscape and is dominated by wallum heath, a distinctive shrubland and wetland habitat type characteristic of the sandy coastal lowlands of southeastern Queensland and northern New South Wales. The reserve was declared as a conservation park in 1994 and takes its name from Kathleen McArthur, a local artist and conservationist who was a founding member of the Wildlife Preservation Society of Queensland in 1962. Its proximity to Caloundra and the developed Sunshine Coast coastline gives the park real value as an enclosed pocket of native coastal vegetation within an otherwise heavily urbanized region, where wallum heath, seasonal wildflowers, and a broad community of native fauna persist in close reach of suburban neighborhoods. Beyond its ecological role, the park functions as a local recreation and education site, with mapped walking tracks, interpretive signage, and adjacent picnic facilities at the neighboring Crummunda Park.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
