Réserve naturelle régionale de l'étang de Ramerupt

The Réserve naturelle régionale de l'étang de Ramerupt is a small French regional nature reserve located in the Aube department, within the Grand Est region. It protects one of the last preserved ponds of the Champagne humide, a historic lowland wetland landscape shaped by centuries of fish farming and traditional water management. Covering roughly 33 hectares, the reserve centers on a permanent pond surrounded by reedbeds, sedge meadows, floating aquatic plant communities, and wet woodlands that together sustain a rich mosaic of wetland habitats. Ecologically, the site is notable for the diversity of wetland habitats packed into a compact area, with thirteen of its sixteen recorded habitat types tied to wet conditions. The reserve supports an unusually varied avifauna, including reedbed warblers, grebes, herons, and wintering wildfowl, alongside notable mammals, amphibians, and a flora of more than a hundred and fifty vascular plants. Its protected status, established in 2010, reflects a regional commitment to conserving a representative fragment of the Champagne humide, a landscape that has shrunk considerably under modern agricultural drainage. Administratively managed by the Conservatoire d'espaces naturels de Champagne-Ardenne, the reserve also provides public access through a boardwalk trail and observation hides on the western shore, making it a useful destination for birdwatching and nature education.

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
