Rochers des Parcs

Rochers des Parcs is a classified natural site in the Calvados department of Normandy, in northwestern France. It sits on the slopes above the Orne river, facing the village of Clécy within the rugged landscape known as the Suisse normande. The site is defined by steep, wooded escarpments built on ancient Cambrian conglomerate rock that towers over the river valley, combining striking scenery with notable ecological value. The site was classified as a site naturel classé in 1977, together with the nearby Rochers de la Houlle, recognizing both its landscape character and its biodiversity. It is also part of the Natura 2000 network, is designated as a sensitive natural area (espace naturel sensible) of Calvados, and forms part of a larger ZNIEFF inventory covering the Clécy cliffs. Beyond its conservation importance, Rochers des Parcs is widely recognized as one of the most important cliff-climbing sites in western France, with roughly one hundred equipped climbing routes. It is also a scenic stop along the Suisse Normande tourist route and is crossed by the GR 36 long-distance footpath, with marked trails such as the sentier du dessus des rochers winding along the cliff tops.
