Tsitongambarika Nature Reserve: Geographic Profile and Protected Forest Landscape
Lowland humid evergreen forest in the Anosy region
Tsitongambarika represents one of the final remaining lowland humid evergreen forest tracts in southern Madagascar. The reserve encompasses an extensive massif of ridges and the isolated Mount Ivohibe, supporting complex drainage networks that sustain the coastal water supply of the Anosy region. This protected landscape is fundamental for preserving regional biodiversity, including endemic lemurs, palm species, and specialized forest bird habitats across the southeastern Madagascar terrain.
