Ngambaa Nature Reserve

Ngambaa Nature Reserve is a protected area of 10,560 hectares in the Mid North Coast region of New South Wales, Australia, with the nearest large town being Macksville. The reserve covers a mix of coastal hinterland landscapes and supports a notable concentration of rare and threatened plant and animal species, including remnant rainforest stands and four species of ironbark trees. The reserve is administered by the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service and was established in its current statutory form in 1999, although the landscape carries a much longer history of Aboriginal connection and non-Aboriginal timber-getting activity. Among its most distinctive ecological features is the presence of the small bolwarra, a primitive flowering plant, and fauna such as the powerful owl, Australia's largest owl species. Although modest in size compared with many of Australia's better-known parks, Ngambaa plays an important role in conserving habitat fragments, rare tree species, and the cultural landscape of the Mid North Coast hinterland.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
