Nisutlin River Delta National Wildlife Area

Nisutlin River Delta National Wildlife Area is a protected wildlife reserve in the south-central Yukon, in northern Canada. It centers on the delta where the Nisutlin River empties into Teslin Lake, a broad wetland system about four kilometers wide that shifts dramatically between flooded and exposed states through the year. The reserve is recognized as the most important autumn migratory stopover in the Yukon. Tens of thousands of waterfowl gather here each fall, including tundra swans, trumpeter swans, and large numbers of ducks and geese, alongside peregrine falcons, short-eared owls, and other species of conservation concern. Designated in 1995 and administered by the Canadian Wildlife Service, the area combines boreal and wetland character in a remote northern setting. Its ecological value lies in the seasonal rhythm of the delta itself, where receding summer waters create feeding habitat at exactly the time migrants need it most.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
