Stobbertal

Stobbertal is a protected nature reserve in the Landkreis Märkisch-Oderland district of Brandenburg, in eastern Germany. The reserve takes its name from the Stöbber river, whose northeastern branch rises in the Rotes Luch wetland and flows through the valley over a stretch of around 13 kilometers. The area preserves a mix of deciduous forest, wetland, and grassland habitats, including oak-hornbeam woodland, remnants of alder-ash floodplain forest, wet tall-herb vegetation, and dry calcareous sandy grassland. A near-natural flowing watercourse runs through the valley, providing habitat for aquatic species such as the freshwater pearl mussel and the European pond turtle. Beyond its ecological character, Stobbertal is significant for its long-running legal protection. It was designated by the government of the German Democratic Republic in 1990 and is now also a European Fauna-Flora-Habitat (FFH) site and part of the European Bird Protection Area Märkische Schweiz, with conservation support from the international foundation Euronatur.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
