El Chico National Park is a protected area in the State of Hidalgo, Mexico, situated in the Pachuca Mountains at the convergence of the Sierra Madre Oriental and the Trans-Mexican Volcanic Belt. Established as a national park in 1982, it represents one of the oldest protected areas in Mexico and all of Latin America, with roots tracing back to an 1898 decree by President Porfirio Díaz that created the Monte Vedado del Mineral del Chico forest reserve.
