Erawan National Park

Erawan National Park is a protected area in Western Thailand spanning approximately 550 square kilometers across the Tenasserim Hills in Kanchanaburi Province. Established on 19 June 1975 as the 12th national park in Thailand, the park features a dramatic landscape of limestone karst formations rising to 996 meters, deep valleys, and flowing streams that feed into the renowned Erawan Falls. The park lies in the rain shadow of the Tenasserim Range, creating a distinctive climate pattern that supports three primary forest types dominated by mixed deciduous forest. Erawan is particularly famous for its seven-tiered waterfall named after Erawan, the three-headed white elephant of Hindu mythology, whose three water spouts allegedly mirror the legendary creature's heads. The park receives significant visitation, with over 500,000 visitors in 2024, drawn by the combination of natural beauty, accessible trails, and the opportunity to swim in the waterfall's numerous pools.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
