The highest point reaches 1,316 meters at Khok Moei. The mountain's name derives from the Thai-Isan word "phu" meaning mountain, combined with "kradueng" meaning "large bell," referencing a local legend about hearing a mysterious bell sound during a Buddhist holiday. The park occupies 348 square kilometers and is known for its cool climate year-round, with average temperatures around 15 Celsius and occasional freezing nights during the cool season.
