Beringa Reserve

Beringa Reserve is a privately managed nature reserve in the south-west of Western Australia, lying roughly 380 kilometres south-east of Perth in the broader Great Southern region. Covering about 25 square kilometres, the reserve sits near Peniup Creek and is owned and managed by Bush Heritage Australia under a partnership with Greening Australia Western Australia. It forms one of the contributing properties within the Gondwana Link conservation corridor, a long-term effort to reconnect fragmented habitats across southern Australia. The reserve protects a mosaic of woodland and heath vegetation, including yate, mallet and moort eucalyptus communities together with mallee heath and riparian zones along the upper Peniup Creek. Much of the land was cleared in earlier decades and is now undergoing regeneration and planned revegetation, giving the area an active restoration character rather than a fully pristine wilderness. Beringa Reserve is notable as a working example of private conservation in a historically cleared rural landscape, providing habitat for native mammals such as black-gloved and tammar wallabies and the red-tailed phascogale while also supporting broader recovery efforts for threatened species like the dibbler in adjacent protected lands.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
