Freshwater National Park

Freshwater National Park is a compact protected area in southeastern Queensland, Australia, situated approximately 34 kilometers north of Brisbane and immediately west of the city of Redcliffe along the shores of Deception Bay. Established in 1973 and managed by the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service, the park encompasses just 0.94 square kilometers of remnant Open Sclerophyll Woodland and Low Heathland ecosystems that were once widespread across this coastal region before extensive suburban development transformed the surrounding landscape. The park's vegetation represents a rare surviving fragment of what was once common terrain in the area, featuring a distinctive mix of tall eucalyptus trees dominating open woodland canopy, dense Casuarina stands, heathland patches characterized by grasstrees and low shrubs, and small paperbark-dominated wetland areas surrounding a creek that flows through the northern portion of the reserve. Despite its small size and complete enclosure by residential neighborhoods, major roads, and the Bruce Highway, the park supports remarkable biodiversity that draws naturalists and birdwatchers throughout the year.

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.
