Ngula Bulgarabang Regional Park

Ngula Bulgarabang Regional Park is a protected parcel of upper Blue Mountains escarpment, located west of Katoomba in New South Wales, Australia. The park covers a well-defined plateau that rises above the Megalong Valley and sits at the edge of the Greater Blue Mountains World Heritage Area. Its 756 acres of natural bushland include a mix of regenerated eucalypt forest and a historic radiata pine plantation from the mid twentieth century. The park takes its official name from the Gundungurra language, in which Ngula Bulgarabang means 'very large forest'. It is also widely known by its older colloquial name, Radiata Plateau, reflecting the radiata pine trees that were planted on the plateau in the 1960s. Ngula Bulgarabang provides habitat for a range of native species, including the spotted-tail quoll, greater glider, and flame robin, and is crossed by the traditional Aboriginal pathway known as Blacks Ladder. The property was acquired by the NSW State Government in 2019 and gazetted as a regional park in June 2020, expanding the protected estate of the upper Blue Mountains.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
