Réserve naturelle régionale de l'étang de Haute-Jarrie

The Réserve naturelle régionale de l'étang de Haute-Jarrie is a small French regional nature reserve located on the Plateau de Champagnier in the Isère department, about 13 kilometers from Grenoble. Classed in 2008 under the regional nature reserve framework of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, it protects a glacial pond and the surrounding wetlands, including reedbeds, wet meadows, and wooded patches spread across roughly 11 hectares. Despite its compact size, the reserve holds an exceptionally high biodiversity density, with more than 180 bird species recorded, a wide range of dragonflies, amphibians, and reptiles, and a flora of at least 250 taxa. Its position along the Grésivaudan corridor gives it particular value as a stopover site for migratory birds, while its proximity to Grenoble makes it an accessible green refuge for walkers and naturalists. The site is managed by Grenoble Alpes Métropole and works to safeguard a hydrosystem that is naturally fragile and exposed to pressures such as water-level decline, invasive species, and recreational use. Visitor infrastructure, including observation pontoons and interpretation panels, has been refreshed in recent years to support both biodiversity monitoring and public discovery.

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
