Ceuta

Ceuta is a small coastal locality in the southern part of the Mexican state of Sinaloa, situated in the municipality of Elota along the shore of the Sea of Cortez, also known as the Gulf of California. The village lies roughly 80 kilometers north of Mazatlán and about 120 kilometers south of Culiacán, just a short distance from the beach that shares its name and from the La Cruz de Elota area. The area is most notable as a long-standing sea turtle conservation site. Each year hundreds of sea turtles arrive on Ceuta's beaches to nest, and since 1976 a protection camp supported by the Universidad Autónoma de Sinaloa has operated there to safeguard the species. Beyond its ecological importance, Ceuta also sits within one of the broader, agriculturally productive valleys of the Elota municipality, where tomato, chile, and cucumber crops form part of a regional irrigation project.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
