Fir of Drenovë-Sinicë Protected Landscape

Fir of Drenovë-Sinicë Protected Landscape is a forest reserve located in the mountainous terrain near the city of Korçë in southeastern Albania. Designated in 1966 and managed today by the National Agency of Protected Areas, the protected area sits at the meeting point of the Illyrian deciduous forests and the Dinaric Alpine mixed forests, two of the most distinctive temperate forest ecoregions of the Balkan Peninsula. The landscape is dominated by Silver fir (Abies alba), interwoven with beech, oak, and pine to create a dense, seasonally shifting mosaic of vegetation. Within its roughly ten square kilometers, the reserve protects not only the fir stands themselves but also a striking collection of rock formations, karst caves, mountain lakes, and other geological monuments that have been declared natural landmarks by the Government of Albania. Across its rugged relief, deep valleys, and groundwater systems, the park functions as both a biodiversity refuge and a record of long-term geological processes. It is widely regarded as one of the more characteristic examples of Albania's mid-elevation temperate forest landscapes and serves as a reference site for understanding the ecological structure of the southeastern Albanian mountains.

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
