The park occupies a transition zone between the Chiltan mountain to the west and Hazarganji to the east, encompassing both desert and forest habitats that support remarkable biodiversity. The name Hazarganji derives from a historical travel route meaning "of a thousand treasures" in the local language, reflecting the area's significance as an ancient passage for Greco-Bactrian traders, Mongols, Scythians, and migrating Baloch tribes.
