Naciones Unidas National Park

Naciones Unidas National Park is a protected forest area of approximately 4.91 square kilometers situated in the Guatemala City Metropolitan Area, roughly 21 kilometers south of Guatemala City in the municipality of Villa Nueva. The park occupies a strategic position on the slopes descending toward Lake Amatitlán, one of the country's most significant volcanic crater lakes. Established by Presidential Agreement in May 1955, it ranks among the oldest national parks in Guatemala and serves as one of the last remaining nature reserves within the greater metropolitan region. The park's elevation of roughly 1,450 meters places it in a subtropical highland environmental zone characterized by temperate climate conditions and distinct ecological communities adapted to the volcanic terrain.
