Usun Apau National Park

Usun Apau National Park is a protected highland area in central Sarawak, Malaysian Borneo, established in 2005. The park encompasses the Usun Apau, a volcanic plateau covering approximately 1,550 square kilometers at an average elevation of 1,000 meters above sea level. This dramatic landscape features three extinct volcanoes at its center, with steep escarpments dropping nearly 300 meters along the northern, eastern, and western edges. The plateau serves as a critical watershed, forming the headwaters of both the Rajang and Baram rivers, two of Borneo's major river systems. The park is managed by the Sarawak Forestry Corporation and represents one of Malaysia's more remote and less-visited national parks, offering visitors access to pristine montane ecosystems and one of Borneo's tallest waterfalls.
