Dyakovsky Forest National Park

Dyakovsky Forest National Park is a federally protected natural area in the southern part of Saratov Oblast, Russia, centered on one of the southernmost natural forest massifs in Europe. Set amid the dry steppes of the Saratov Trans-Volga region, it bridges the contrasting worlds of open feather-grass plains and a diverse mosaic of woodland habitats along the Yeruslan River terraces. The park protects a remarkable combination of sand-plain forests, oak groves, birch-aspen clusters, and aquatic habitats concentrated on the Priyeruslan sand massif between the Yeruslan and Bizyuk rivers. Its ecological significance comes from sustaining woodland and woodland-dependent species far south of the typical forest zone, supported by the unusual moisture regime of the sandy substrates. Recognized as a natural monument for decades, the territory was elevated to full national park status in late 2023, placing it under federal management alongside the broader regional system of protected areas in Saratov Oblast.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
