Luagan Lalak Forest Recreation Park

Luagan Lalak Forest Recreation Park is a protected recreational forest located in Mukim Labi, Belait District, in the small Southeast Asian nation of Brunei. Established in 1980, this 270-hectare nature park represents one of Brunei's most significant wetland conservation areas, distinguished by its intact freshwater swamp ecosystem known locally as an empran. Unlike many recreational forest parks that contain disturbed or plantation areas, Luagan Lalak remains a natural wetland environment with dark, still waters and extensive fields of Lepironia articulata, a grass-like plant locally called purun. The park falls under the management of Brunei Forestry Department and serves as an important habitat for diverse wildlife, including numerous bird species, small mammals, and aquatic life. Situated nearly 100 kilometres from the capital Bandar Seri Begawan, the park offers visitors a rare opportunity to experience Brunei's pristine tropical wetland environment.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
