Parque rural de Anaga

The Parque rural de Anaga is a protected natural area covering the rugged Anaga peninsula at the northeastern tip of Tenerife, in the Canary Islands of Spain. Encompassing roughly 14,400 hectares across the municipalities of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, San Cristóbal de La Laguna, and Tegueste, the park stretches from sea level up to elevations approaching 1,000 meters, producing one of the most dramatic and variedrelief patterns in the archipelago. The Anaga massif is one of the oldest geological formations on Tenerife and hosts the largest concentration of endemic species in the European biogeographic realm, including the cloud forests known as laurisilva that thrive in the moist, fog-laden mid-elevations of the range. Along with its ecological importance, the park preserves a cultural landscape of traditional Canarian settlements, terraced agriculture, and pastoral use that has shaped the area for centuries. In 2015 the Anaga massif was declared a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, recognizing both its natural and cultural significance. Today the park is valued as much for its hiking trails, endemic flora, and rural heritage as for the sweeping coastal and mountain scenery that defines this distinctive corner of the Canary Islands.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
