Bresolettes Forest Clearing Regional Nature Reserve

The Bresolettes Forest Clearing Regional Nature Reserve is a protected area of approximately 780 hectares in the Orne department of Normandy, France. Established in October 2010, it safeguards a representative portion of the historic Perche forest, the domanial forest of Perche and Trappe, around the small village of Bresolettes. The reserve is notable for the diversity of natural habitats it conserves within a relatively compact landscape, ranging from mature forest stands to ponds, wet meadows, and mire-like wetland clearings. Although forest covers roughly 88 percent of the territory, the reserve's most distinctive feature is the range of complementary habitats that surround the woodland core, particularly along the Avre river and its associated wetlands. These habitats support a surprisingly rich flora and fauna for a northern French lowland site, with botanical surveys recording more than 340 plant species and faunal inventories documenting bats, breeding woodland birds, amphibians, reptiles, and a notable freshwater crayfish. The reserve is co-managed by the Parc naturel régional du Perche and the French national forestry office, the ONF, reflecting its dual identity as both a working forest landscape and a biodiversity refuge. It is one of several regional nature reserves in Normandy and serves as an important local reference point for forest habitat conservation in the Perche hills.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
