Réserve naturelle régionale de la pelouse de la côte de l'étang

The Réserve naturelle régionale de la pelouse de la côte de l'étang is a small regional nature reserve in the Aube department, in the Grand Est region of northeastern France. Established in 2010, it protects a representative fragment of the dry calcareous grassland landscape typical of the Barrois champenois, an area where similar habitats have largely been lost to agriculture and forestry plantations. Despite its small size of roughly 11 hectares, the reserve is ecologically rich. It combines a calcicolous dry grassland, shrubby fringes, a thermophilic oak woodland, a Scots pine stand, and traditional orchards, forming a mosaic of warm, sunny habitats that support specialized plants, breeding birds, reptiles, and insects. The reserve is managed by the Conservatoire d'espaces naturels de Champagne-Ardenne and is not developed for public visitation, reflecting its primary role as a conservation site for rare species and threatened semi-natural habitats rather than a tourist destination.

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
