Buxa Tiger Reserve is a tiger reserve and national park located in the Alipurduar district of northern West Bengal, India, near the border with Bhutan. Established in 1983 as the 15th tiger reserve in India, the reserve covers approximately 760 square kilometers of diverse terrain ranging from the Gangetic Plains at 60 meters elevation to 1,750 meters where it borders the Himalayas. The park represents the easternmost extension of the ecologically rich North-East India region and forms part of a critical international corridor that facilitates Asian elephant migration between India and Bhutan. Buxa is notable for its remarkable biodiversity, with over 450 tree species, 284 recorded bird species, and 73 mammal species, including the Bengal tiger, Asian elephant, clouded leopard, and gaur. The reserve was formally designated as a national park in 1997 and continues to serve as a vital protected area for some of India's most significant wildlife populations.
