Homevale National Park

Homevale National Park is a protected area in Central Queensland, Australia, situated approximately 821 kilometres northwest of Brisbane within the Isaac Region. The park encompasses 218 square kilometres of rugged terrain characterised by dramatic cliffs, jagged peaks and weathered spires that dominate the landscape. Established in 1995 under the Nature Conservation Act 1992, the area was formally a cattle grazing station known as Homevale pastoral station before its conversion to national park protection. The park holds particular scientific significance due to the discovery of fossilised sea shells dating from the Permian period, representing an ancient marine environment that existed between 280 and 225 million years ago. Managed by the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service, the park preserves both geological heritage and traces of Queensland's pastoral history, with the original homestead still situated within the park boundaries.

Distance methodology

Geographic measurements, not driving distances

How nearby park distances are calculated

Distances use park boundaries whenever the available geometry allows it. When one or both boundaries are missing, the mapped park locations provide a clearly labelled estimate. Every value represents straight-line geographic separation and does not use roads or routing.

Boundary distance

Calculated between the nearest points of both park boundaries.

Location-to-boundary estimate

Estimated from one mapped park location to the nearest boundary of the other park.

Mapped-location estimate

Estimated between the mapped locations of both parks.
